About Dr. Weidenbecher

Dr. Mark Weidenbecher is a board-certified Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgeon and fellowship trained in Laryngology.
​He was born and raised in Germany, where he went to medical school and did his residency in Otolaryngology. With a special interest in laryngology and upper airway disease, he spent 2 years in basic research, where he has been very successful. His work on airway tissue engineering (growing of windpipes in the lab) has received multiple awards and was published in several peer-reviewed medical journals.
​Dr. Weidenbecher did his otolaryngology residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. To further deepen his expertise in professional voice and other laryngeal and airway disorders he completed a fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital - Harvard Medical School under Dr. Steven Zeitels.​
He has published significantly in his area and presented his work at multiple national and international conferences.  His research has been funded through a number of grants. He continues to study clinical outcome on airway and sleep surgery and he collaborates with other investigators on tracheal stenosis research.

Dr. Weidenbecher has since been working in an academic setting and he currently works and sees patients at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, where he is the Director of the Voice & Swallow Center as well as the Director of the Sleep Surgery Center. ​
